My leather pants are definitely one of my best semi-recent clothing purchases. They’re a sleeker substitute for jeans. The only downside is they’ve felt like they’ve been on the verge of ripping for months. I’m enjoying them while I can, since getting them repaired would cost more than I paid for them.

Generally when friends invite me to sporting events, they say something like, “Hey, I have an extra ticket and no one else could go. Wanna come?” (Why’d you gotta ask it like that, guys?) But yeah, it’s understood that I appreciate these outings more for the friend time than for the actual game. That’s why I kind of like the Superbowl — because everyone’s there and I’m sure to get the invite the first time around.

Anyway, I wore this outfit on Superbowl Sunday since it’s kind of sporty and I’m not partial to either team. But then, for the win, I spilled wing sauce all over it. Smooth move, Team Goel.

I’ve been knee deep in wedding planning, and I’m pretty sure looking at hyper-girly sites all day this Saturday compelled me to wear something sleek to balance things out. Dark denim never fails me (and this pair is awesomely stretchy).

On the wedding front, it’s funny how fashion trends translate. Just as with clothes,  the whole vintage-inspired vibe seems to be strong. Sometimes it’s cool, and other times it’s a slippery slope to Portlandia. Don’t care what anyone says though, I fully support old-school stripey straws.

Is it just me, or did skirt hemlines get really fun recently? There are all the variations of the high-low, the slit, and then there are the asymmetric cuts. This one’s kind of a mix of the three.

Only three weeks into January and I’ve already failed on my New Year’s resolution to stop buying faux shoes. I call them “faux” because they’re all eye candy and fail at the whole allowing me to walk aspect. Anyway, these are the heels that made me cave. So for now I suppose staying stationary it is.

Let them eat cake? Done and done. This weekend I spent my Saturday sampling wedding fare, getting dolled up and prancing around in stunning Sarah Seven bridal gowns. The occasion was The Lab Event, a Sonoma wedding fair that was a total feast for the eyes (and my tastebuds).

All the participants had to arrive a few hours early to get prepped, so we had the chance to see the entire space transform from any empty barrel room into a Cinderella-like wedding event. Pretty amazing. The images you see here are a just a fraction of the photos from the night. It was nuts — every corner of the place was packed with pretty little details. Hats off to the organizers, Erin, Allison and Yasmin.

I also had a blast hanging out before and after the runway show with gorgeous gals Taylor, Krystal, Erin, Anne and Britt + Whit. Check out their sites for some more pics from the event!

Know any Bay-Area brides-to-be (besides myself)? How cool is this — wedding fair extravaganza The Lab Event is coming up in Wine Country, and it’s being held in the barrel room of Cline Cellars. Mark your calendars! This Saturday, January 14 in Sonoma.

It’s going to be an awesome event, and Taylor, Anne, Britt & Whit, Krystal, Erin and I get to play dress-up in the runway show in gorgeous Sarah Seven creations. (If you’ve seen me on Pinterest, you probably know I’m kind of a Sarah Seven junkie.) I’m having an Indian wedding myself, and I’m pretty stoked about that, but I have to say getting to strut around in her dresses satisfies my secret longing to try on white wedding gowns too. Hooray for having your cake and eating it too.

SHOES!! Did I get your attention? Sorry, cheap trick. Like a bad birthday card. But it wasn’t false advertising, because that was the subject of my New Year’s resolution. It was awesomely featured here on Refinery29, along with a list of the articles I’ve written for them.

And Happy New Year! Hope it was great for everyone. I spent mine stuffing my face in Toronto with home-cooked Indian meals, followed by Japanese and Italian fine dining in NYC with Chris’s family, as is our tradition. (Yes, I generally describe my vacations in terms of food.) This year felt even longer and more restful than usual since we snuck in a few movies and lazy mornings, not to mention having an extra couple of days off. Here’s to a 2012 filled with even more joy (and fabulous footwear).
